Mike Marcum He Made Time Machine

A 22-year-old electrical engineer steals a transformer from his nearby power station, builds a small machine, accidentally opens a space portal, and due to the machine overloading, knocks out the entire city’s power grid. He is caught by the police and thrown in jail. In front of the judge, he confesses to building a time machine. The judge, believing him to be mentally unstable, releases him. After this, he goes on a radio show where he tells his story. He receives funding from people, operates the time machine in front of them, and disappears inside it. To this day, there is no trace of this man. This is a true story of a real-life electrical engineer, Mike Marcum. Let’s find out how and when everything happened. Mike Marcum was a young man of 21-22 years old, studying electrical engineering, and his interest in electrical and electronics was steadily growing. Mike used to build small gadgets in his house. His house was nothing less than a junkyard. Radios and broken TVs were scattered everywhere, along with cathode ray tubes and circuits. Actually, Mike’s objective was never to build a time machine; the time machine was created by accident. Mike was actually trying to build a Jacob’s Ladder, and as a result of a malfunction in his experiment, a space portal opened. Let me explain from the beginning. Since Mike was studying electrical engineering, electricity is incomplete without a transformer, so naturally, Mike was also conducting experiments related to transformers. As you know, transformers are used to step up and step down voltage. A Jacob’s Ladder is a simple device that is placed on top of a transformer, with two antennas extending from it. A large number of electrons are filled into one of these antennas. These electrons want to move away from each other, so they jump to the wire placed next to it. When they jump, an arc is visible. Because of their jump, the surrounding air becomes ionized, resulting in a bright light around it. It also increases the air temperature, and you know…

As you know, hot air rises, so as this hot air rises, we see the arc moving upwards. That’s all there is to Jacob’s Ladder. It can be built at home, it’s very easy, but don’t build it without proper knowledge, otherwise, all the circuits in your body will short-circuit. It’s a device that works on high voltage; if you accidentally touch the wrong wire, all the fuses in your body will blow. Now, since this device had been built before and time travel had never been achieved with it, it means Mike had made some changes to it, and these changes were the cause of all the trouble. What were those changes, and why and how did Mike make them? Let’s find out. Look, the Jacob’s Ladders that are available in the market for children to play with—and by children, I mean young electrical engineers who have just started college—they get to play with Jacob’s Ladders in college. We had them in our college, but you don’t? That’s unfair! Anyway, let’s move on. Now, the Jacob’s Ladder that Mike was building was a bit larger in size, meaning he needed a large transformer. You know, those transformers that control the voltage of the entire house? The ones that are installed near the meter? Big transformers… Oh, sorry, it’s not called a transformer, it’s called a voltage regulator. The transformer is inside it, and I’m talking about a large voltage regulator, not a small one. Don’t confuse it with an AC adapter. So, he needed at least a transformer that big. Now, this gentleman didn’t have such a large transformer. So, when will electrical engineering come in handy? If you don’t have a transformer, build your own! It’s a simple construction. So, he arranged for a core, put copper windings on one side, and increased the number of turns on the other side, thus creating a step-up transformer. If you want to know how this is made, watch my transformer video; you’ll understand it well. So, the transformer was ready. Now, he needed antennas. To make the antennas, Jacob straightened the wire from iron clothes hangers and made two antennas. Now comes the biggest problem: the arc that would form between the two antennas wasn’t going to form on its own, because to create it, the two wires had to be brought close together and then moved apart. Now, how would you do that? You shouldn’t take such a risk with your hands. That was the first problem. The second problem was that if the air pressure inside the room changed, this contraption wouldn’t work. If the air temperature changed, it wouldn’t work either. If the humidity changed, it wouldn’t work, or if the air movement increased, it wouldn’t work. And forget about all that, if dust or smoke came near the wires, it wouldn’t work either. So, in short, it needed ideal conditions. Now, Mike came up with a solution. Mike thought that if he used a laser to heat the air around these two wires—listen carefully—in the case of hot air, the resistance decreases. Now, I’ve said this, but you’re not going to just take my word for it, are you? No problem, I’ll provide proof, or rather, I’ll give you the logic. Even Google Baba can give you proof. So listen carefully, when air is heated, its density decreases, and when air is cooled, its density increases. If the density of the air decreases, it means that in a fixed space, there are fewer cold air molecules.

There are fewer air molecules compared to normal air, and where there are fewer air molecules, the resistance will also be lower because it is the air that creates the resistance between the two wires. So, once the air becomes lighter, the resistance will decrease, meaning the Jacob’s Ladder will work more easily. Now, what Mike did was heat the air between the two wires using a laser, and his Jacob’s Ladder started working. By the way, where did Mike get the laser from? Yes, that’s a good question. Remember I told you that Mike’s house was full of all sorts of junk, electronic junk? So, what he did was take a laser out of one of the old CD players lying around the house and, with some tinkering, got the laser working. But his Jacob’s Ladder didn’t work the way he expected. A small arc was produced, and then everything stopped. Mike started scratching his head, wondering what had happened, because he had wasted several days on this contraption. But then Mike noticed a bubble of air above his contraption. Now, listen very carefully to what I’m about to tell you; it’s a bit confusing. Imagine you’re looking through a transparent glass, but now that glass starts to distort. If you can’t imagine that, think of a pond, a swimming pool, or a river where the water is still and calm. You’ll see your reflection in it. If you look carefully, you can even see into the water if it’s clear. Now, if you throw a small pebble into the water, the ripples produced around the pebble will distort your reflection. Mike started seeing a similar distortion above his contraption. Mike thought his eyes were playing tricks on him. He took off his glasses, cleaned them, and put them back on, but the distortion was still there. So Mike picked up a screw and threw it towards the distortion. As soon as the screw reached the distortion, it disappeared and reappeared a few seconds later, falling to the ground in a different spot. Mike didn’t stop there because he couldn’t understand what was happening, so he… He experimented only four or five times. He repeatedly threw the screw, and it would disappear for a few seconds, reappearing each time in a new location. Mike also threw other objects, and the same thing happened with them; they would disappear and reappear, but not in the same place where they had entered. Now, Mike couldn’t understand what this machine was doing. Was it teleporting things, or was it sending these objects a few seconds into the future? And just as all this was happening, Mike’s machine started smoking. The transformer had overloaded and burned out. Now, this was something completely new for Mike. So, naturally, Mike decided that he wouldn’t build a one-foot-tall Jacob’s Ladder anymore, but an 18-foot-tall one. And for that, he needed a lot of energy, and he knew where he could get that energy. And now begins the story of building the time machine. Mike knew that there were many transformers rusting away at the power station near his house. The power company wasn’t using them anyway, so why not borrow them for his project? That is, steal them. Yes, nowadays, stealing is called borrowing in modern language. When you take someone’s belongings without their permission, for a short time, without their consent, telling yourself that you’re just borrowing them and will return them when you’re done, then this “borrowing” is only in your own eyes. So, Mike did the same. He chose a perfect day, completely dark. And since he couldn’t carry the transformers himself—they’re quite heavy—he arranged for his friends’ cars. These friends were great! So, they arrived with the cars, picked up the transformers, and loaded them into the cars. I think they took eight or nine transformers, from what I’ve read. So, Mike brought the transformers to his house. Now, just to give you an idea, when Mike built the small prototype, how much voltage did he increase? In America, the voltage is around 120 or 240 volts, and Mike… He had increased the voltage to 20,000 volts for his little contraption. Okay, that’s not a big deal, it’s something that can be built at home. Now, some of you might also ask why Mike stole it; he could have just bought a transformer. Such things are easily available in America.

You’re right, but who’s going to spend money when you don’t have a penny in your pocket and the expenses are sky-high? That was the problem Mike faced. He didn’t have any money, and the expenses were enormous. So, he picked up some transformers that were just lying around. Working day and night for four or five days, Mike put together his contraption. Big antennas, huge transformers, all connected to each other, and a brand new laser. After assembling all this, as soon as Mike switched on his machine, a spark was produced, there was a loud noise, and everything went dark. Mike thought he had blown his main switch, so he went to fix it with a flashlight, but he saw that the streetlights were also off. Then he noticed that the neighboring houses didn’t have electricity either. He went outside and realized he had knocked out the power for the entire city. He had blown up the substation! That’s where things went wrong. And you know, neighbors are the same in every country. So, a neighbor called the police, saying that a crazy man in his neighborhood was doing something with electricity in his house, and because of his bizarre activities, the whole city’s power was out. The police arrived, saw the strange equipment in the house, the stolen transformers that were supposed to be on the poles, and questioned Mike. “Son, where did you get these?” Mike calmly replied, “Uncle, I took them from that substation over there. It was a mistake, I won’t do it again.” “No problem, son, come on, come on, it happens.” The officer said, “Clerk, make an entry in the register. We have the next Einstein at our station.” The police arrested Mike Markham and threw him in jail. A case was registered, and it went before the judge. The judge asked, “Son, what have you done? Why did you steal?” Mike told him everything straightforwardly. “Uncle, I’m an electrical engineering student. I was doing experiments with electricity. I built a small time machine, and to build a bigger one, I needed transformers, so I borrowed them without asking anyone.” Mike accidentally blew up the power grid. The judge thought the boy was under too much stress from his studies and was talking nonsense. He thought that putting him in jail would ruin his career and they would lose a good citizen. Besides, the insurance company would have to cover the damages anyway, so they decided to let him off with a warning. “Son, don’t do this again. Study hard. Go, your mistake is forgiven.” Mike was released. But the incident had already made headlines; Mike had become famous. And now, Coast to Coast AM with Art Bell enters the story. This was the famous US radio show where people who had witnessed such extraordinary events were invited. And don’t worry, I’ll give you the link to the actual interview footage – well, not footage, but the audio recording – in the description of this video. You can listen to it if you want. It’s a true story, and you’ll find solid evidence. So Mike appears on the radio show, and the questioning begins. After Mike’s introduction, the main question that caught everyone’s attention was whether a space portal opened after Mike stole the transformer, built the time machine, and the spark was produced – the spark that occurred before the blackout. His answer was, “Yes, absolutely, it did.” And Mike’s friends were witnesses. They threw many things into the portal, even some furniture, and all those things were disappearing inside the portal and then reappearing a short distance away. This meant Mike’s machine had worked. After this, when Mike was brought before the judge, the judge, considering his mental state unstable, gave him five years of probation. This meant he would be monitored, but he wouldn’t go to jail. Mike was released. Then Art Bell asks, “Mike, would you still like to build a time machine?” Mike says, “Absolutely, but I don’t have the money.” So Art Bell asks, “If people wanted to help you, to donate something, would you build a time machine again?” Mike says, “Absolutely.” And this is where the fan funding begins. Many people donate transformers, generators, and money. Some even donate their property. They tell him to come and work in their place, and Mike had now received all the things he needed to build the time machine.

Now, Mike makes a decision: he will demonstrate the project to the people who helped him build it. And this was the point when Mike disappears, vanishing right in front of everyone. Mike had finished building his machine, and during this time, he was in contact with Mr. Art Bell, the host of the Coast to Coast radio show. Since Mr. Art Bell was also knowledgeable about electronics, he warned Mike not to take any wrong steps, not to make the mistake of jumping into this portal. Mike had made it clear that after experimenting on mice, he himself would jump into the portal. And this is where the name “Mad Man Mike” comes from. You can find this name on the internet; it was given to him by Mr. Art Bell, the host of Coast to Coast. Art Bell thought that jumping into such an energy vortex would turn Mike into “fried Mike,” meaning the electricity would fry him. After all, who would believe in a time machine? So, in the donated space, Mike builds his machine, experiments on mice, sends them into the vortex, and after being satisfied with the results, he himself jumps into the vortex and disappears in front of everyone. No one understands where Mike went; it’s as if Mike’s entire identity had been erased. Now, Art Bell also learns about this, and naturally, he is shocked by what happened. After this, Mike’s eyes open, and he finds himself lying in a field 800 miles away from where he disappeared. He gets up and asks people walking along the road for his location. That’s when he realizes what happened. Then, somehow, he manages to make his way back to his warehouse and finds that there was nothing inside. Everything was gone; there was no machine, not a single trace of anything. Then Mike sees a poster. The date written on the poster shocks him because in just a few seconds, he had traveled two years into the future. Mike goes to his house and finds that someone else is now living in the house where he used to live. This news also reaches Art Bell, who invites Mike back onto his radio show and asks him where he was for two years. Mike explains that he only disappeared for 4-5 seconds, but two years had passed, meaning he had traveled to the future. Since Coast to Coast was a very popular radio show, people who were connected to Mike came forward again to help him. This time, Mike builds a Faraday cage. A Faraday cage is a device that acts as a shield against electromagnetic waves; inside it, electromagnetic waves cannot affect anything. So Mike thinks that this time he will take his phone inside the Faraday cage. And that’s exactly what he did. He jumps into the portal again with the Faraday cage and disappears again. And that was the last day anyone ever saw Mike. After that, Mike has never been seen again. There is no trace of him, no one knows where he went. Since Art Bell hosted a radio show, many people would call in and ask about Mike. Art Bell would simply say that he didn’t know where Mike had gone. But one day, Art Bell receives a call, and the caller says that he has a clipping of a 1930s article that describes a body found inside an iron tube on the seashore. The body had a strange gadget in its hand with many buttons and a small antenna. It was nothing other than a cell phone. Mike had traveled to 1930. And that’s the last incident related to Mike Marcum. After that, people forgot about Mike. Now, the audio recordings of the Coast to Coast radio show are available in the description of this video. Also, the link to the video related to the transformer will be found below. If you want to read more about Mad Man Mike Marcum, you can read articles about him on the internet. That’s also the source of my information. Many YouTubers have also made videos about Mike Marcum; you can watch those as well. The story is the same. Now, some people have tried to debunk this incident, but since Mike Markham was a real-life character, a real person whose records exist, many things cannot be dismissed as false. Some aspects of the story were true, and some things were exaggerated by people. Personally, if I were to give my point of view…

So, people like Mike Markman exaggerated and made fun of Mike, and the simple boy started seeing society as his enemy and isolated himself from everyone. People made up all sorts of stories. However, everyone who witnessed Mike’s time machine incident says that Mike disappeared. But look, it’s a little hard to digest, personally for me it’s difficult because I have enough scientific knowledge to understand how such things work, even if I don’t fully understand, I can still get a general idea. So, nobody knows the truth, or rather, the complete truth. Are the things said in Mike’s favor true, or are the things said to debunk Mike true? Either could be false, or it could be a half-truth. You must have also encountered people who encourage you to your face but make fun of you behind your back. They themselves won’t achieve anything in life, but if someone else is achieving something, they will try to mislead them. So, always keep your distance from people who are creating obstacles in your progress. Don’t waste your time on such people. These people have no importance in your life. 10 years from now, 20 years from now, they won’t give you money to run your household expenses; you will have to manage everything yourself. Choose your friends wisely. And before I go, if you want to take away four or five main concepts from this video, they are: first, how a Jacob’s Ladder works; second, how a transformer works; third, how a Faraday cage works; and fourth, always focus on things that help you move forward because you will get in life what you invest your time in. If you invest your time in negative people, then negative people will only increase.
